history
The first written mention of Žirův dvůr comes from 1379. Velký Rybník belonged to the episcopal rule Řečice at that time . After their division, the lords Leskovský received from Leskovec Žirov. After the death of Kryštof Leskovský in 1597 Heřman the Elder Říčanský of Říčany bought his property. After the Battle of White Mountain , Jan Říčanský's goods were confiscated and the Archdiocese of Prague took Žirov back.
Until the end of patrimonial Žirov remained under the rule of Červená Řečice and became an independent municipality in 1850. Between 1869 and 1902, Žirov was part of the Zachotín municipality and then formed its own municipality again. In 1974 it was incorporated into Strměchy and together with this municipality on January 1, 1980 in the town of Pelhřimov . Since 1990 Žirov has been independent again.
