The Albanian Academy of Sciences ( Albanian Akademia e Shkencave e Shqipërisë ) is the state academy of sciences of Albania based in Tirana . It was founded in 1972 with Aleks Buda (1911–1993) as its first president.
The academy is divided into two classes: one for social sciences and one for natural and technical sciences. Gudar Beqiraj has been president since 2017 .
There are several independent scientific institutes, laboratories and other scientific institutions. The academy is a member of the All European Academies .
