Muzafer Korkuti

Muzafer Korkuti (* 1936 in Fterra , Saranda County , Albania ) is an archaeologist and prehistorian .

Korkuti is considered a specialist in the prehistoric period of Albania. He was director of the Institute of Archeology in the Center for Albanological Studies in Tirana from 1998 to 2005. In 2012 he is Deputy President of the Albanian Academy of Sciences . He is also a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute with headquarters in Berlin .

Career

Korkuti studied history at the University of Tirana from 1957 to 1962 and has been in China on archeology specialized. In 1966 he took part in the Maliq excavations in Korça County . From 1991 to 1996 he led a joint project in Konispol with Karl Petruso from the University of Texas .
