history

The first written mention of the village took place in 1352 as the property of the Burgrave of Počátky , Kuneš of Těchobuz. In 1390 the knight Alber von Stájice bought Těchobuz. Its seat was the castle Šelemberk (Schellenberg). Alber belonged to the nobility union against King Wenceslaus , but withdrew from it in 1399. In 1415 Alber von Stájice was one of the signatories of the complaint against the burning of Jan Hus as a heretic. Due to his age, he no longer took an active part in the Hussite Wars , he probably supported the Taborites , and his extensive property was spared from pillage and devastation. After taking the Schellenburg, Alber moved his seat to the Těchobuz fortress. Alber von Těchobuz probably died around 1430, and from 1431 Mikuláš von Hořice was named as the owner of Těchobuz. After 1524 the brothers bought Robenhaupt from Sucha Těchobuz. Another owner was Wenzel Otto von Loß, who had a bell tower built. Under Georg Wilhelm von Waldstein , Těchobuz was attached to Vodice until 1662 . In 1707 Franz Helfried Woracziczky von Pabienitz acquired Těchobuz, followed in 1718 by Ferdinand Felix Puteani. He began with the conversion of the fortress into a castle, but sold the property to Maria Anna Rindsmanl in 1722. In 1735 Anton Adler bought the Těchobuz estate for 33,500 guilders. His son Ignaz Adler had a glassworks built on the Trnava stream. In 1782 Adler sold the estate, at which time the glassworks had already closed. In 1798 the glassmaker Josef Hoffmann bought Těchobuz. His son of the same name had the glassworks rebuilt successfully. The company, which specializes in hollow glass, exported 5/6 of its production, particularly to Spain , Denmark , Turkey and America. In 1830 it stopped production. The glassmaker Franz Kavalier learned his trade in the works, later he went into business for himself and founded the Kavalier glassworks in Sázava in 1837 .

Josef Hoffmann junior and his wife Anna were close friends with the Prague professor Bernard Bolzano . After Bolzano was withdrawn from the chair and expelled from Prague , he was accepted by the Hoffmanns and continued his work there. After the death of his father, the son Gustav Hoffmann sold the estate to Anton Warner, who then sold it to the Viennese company Chabrus.

After the abolition of patrimonial Těchobuz formed a community with the Talemberk court in the Pelhřimov district administration . The castle was owned by Adolf Weiss Ritter von Tessbach in 1896. Těchobuz belonged to the Weiss family until 1945, and Pacov Castle , Talemberk and Hrádek u Pacova farms, various forests and Velké Losiny Park were also part of the domain . Otto Weiss was murdered on May 8, 1945 in Pacov. The Weiss family moved to Vienna and their property in Czechoslovakia was nationalized in 1945. Between 1948 and 1960 the community was assigned to the Okres Pacov and came back to the Okres Pelhřimov at the beginning of 1961 after its abolition . In 1980 it was incorporated into Pacov. Since 1992 Těchobuz has again formed its own municipality.

In the period from July 2 to 4, 2009, the Barborka overflowed its banks and flooded meadows and gardens.

There is a large quarry between Těchobuz and Jetřichovec, where gneiss and quartzite are extracted.
