Mathias Husmann

Mathias Husmann (born June 21, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German conductor, composer and pianist.

Life

Husmann studied conducting, piano and composition and made his debut as a conductor at the age of 22 with the Hamburg Philharmonic and the Hamburg State Opera , where he became Horst Stein's assistant . From 1970 to 1974 he directed the Harvestehuder Sinfonieorchester Hamburg . Long-term engagements led him as first conductor to the Staatstheater Darmstadt , the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the stages of the city of Dortmund .

Between 1983 and 1991 he was general music director and chief conductor in Ulm (Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Ulm). This was followed by engagements as general music director in Magdeburg (Magdeburg Philharmonic, 1992–1998) and at the Theater Vorpommern in Greifswald and Stralsund (Philharmonic Orchestra Vorpommern, 2002–2009).

As a concert conductor, he produced CD and television recordings, especially new music ( Günter Bialas , Hanns Eisler , Berthold Goldschmidt ). As a guest conductor, he has worked several times with renowned orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Beethovenhalle Orchestra Bonn, the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and the radio orchestras of the NDR, HR and Bavarian Broadcasting.

He conducted as a permanent guest at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Hamburg State Opera and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein . He is a visiting professor at universities in Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart.

He was a prizewinner at the conductor's competition of the German Music Council .
