According to a local history compiled by students in 1991, there has been a fortress since 1310, the other owners of which are also named. However, in their work in the Pelhřimov district archive, the creators failed to cite any sources, so that the findings of that time are not considered to be reliable. Research made in 2002 was unsuccessful. The place was burned down on April 20, 1467, the details of this are not known. In 1620, the village, which was then part of the Černovice rulership , was re-Catholicized.
In 1869 there were 380 inhabitants in Včelnička and in 1900 there were 573. Since then the number of inhabitants has declined sharply. In 1906 the narrow-gauge railway from Obrataň to Jindřichův Hradec was inaugurated. There is a glassworks in the village.
