Horní Cerekev (German Oberzerekwe , older Lobskirchen , praise churches is) a city in the region Vysočina ( Czech Republic ).
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1352. The city was probably founded by a Líček and originally named Líčkovice after him. Later the settlement was after their wooden church in Cierkev renamed. Horní Cerekev was expanded by the Supreme Marshal of the Bohemian Kingdom, Tobias von Bechin auf Kamenice ( Dobeš z Bechyně ), who granted the place town, judicial and administrative rights. He also had a fortress built on the bank of the largest pond.
Over time, the city was ruled and administered by twelve different noble families. The most famous family were the lords of Leskovec, whose reign from 1411 to 1655 Cerekev Léskovcova Superiori grew into the center of politics and economy. The city last belonged to the German Duke Anton Karl von Hohenzollern in 1945 .

The town of Horní Cerekev consists of the districts Horní Cerekev, Hříběcí ( Hribitsch ), Chrástov ( Chrastow ), Těšenov ( Tieschenau ) and Turovka ( Turowka ), which also form cadastral districts.
