Onšov is located in the southwest of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The village lies in the valley of the Martinický potok ( Goldbach ) opposite a river bend. The Šamořín (542 m) rises to the east, the Hůřa (523 m) to the south and the Kočihrady (561 m) to the northwest.

Neighboring towns are Těškovice, Krčma and Chlovy in the north, Šumplice, Kalná Hať and Hořice in the northeast, Nový Dvůr and Syrov in the east, Senožaty , Pazderna, Mochna and Jiřičky in the southeast, Křelovice , Arneštovice and Košetice in the south, Horka, Bušetice in the south-west, Martinice u Onšova in the west and Chyšná , Popovický Dvůr and Skoranovice in the north-west.

history

Archaeological finds date back to the Hallstatt period . Onšov originated on a medieval trade route that led from Prague via Benešov , Vlašim , Čechtice , Krčmy and Skoranovice through the valley of the Goldbach and on via Humpolec and Jihlava in the Balkans and the Orient. Onšov was probably a Slavnikid settlement . According to ancient writings, Duke Slavník von Zlic had a wooden church built on the mountain above Onšov. Presumably this took place around 980 during Slavník's lifetime, the traditional date 995 is unlikely, since Slavník was murdered in 981 in Libice nad Cidlinou . In 1088 Onšov came to the district of Queen Swatawa , which lay between the rivers Želivka and Goldbach (Martinický potok) and whose center was Kralowitz . In 1144, Vladislav II divided the district between the Želiv monastery and the diocese of Prague . Onšov came to the episcopal rule Řečice . From 1262 Onšov belonged to the Czech noble family of Onšovský von Onšov, who can be traced back to 1415. However, they lost their property in Onšov earlier. Jan von Leskovec Onšov bought from Theodor von Studena. He sold the property to Zdenko von Lukavec in 1410. The following owners were the lords of Hraběšín until 1582. They had the Chapel of the Transfiguration built opposite the village on the Hůřa . In 1650 Petr Zbraslavský von Svarov acquired the goods, after 1660 the property passed to Johann Jakob von Gastheim through his widow. His son Joseph sold Onšov in 1717 to Johann Daniel von Fürstenbach, who sold the property on to Martin Michna von Waitzenau in 1721 due to excessive indebtedness . This lost possession - also due to debts - in 1738 to the Archbishop's Consistory in Prague. In 1755 the Onšov consistory leased to Josef Růžkov, a citizen of Friborg from Petrova Lhota. The Onšov dominion at that time included the ten villages Onšov, Syrov , Hořice , Hroznětice, Martinice , Chyšná , Chlovy, Těškovice, Skoranovice and Děkančice. At that time 494 people lived in Onšov. In 1761 Archbishop Johann Moritz Gustav von Manderscheid-Blankenheim bought the Onšov dominion from the consistory and then added it to the archbishopric.

After the replacement of patrimonial Vonšov / Wonschau formed from 1850 with the districts Těškovice, Chlovy, Martinice and Skuranovice as well as the farms Popovice, Nový Dvůr and Onšovský Dvůr a political municipality in the district administration Ledetsch . A little later Dolní Kralovice became the seat of the district court . In 1880 Onšov had 757 inhabitants. Between 1866 and 1924, the archbishopric leased the Vonšov property to the Polák, Zahálka and Kopp families. In 1906 the Czech place name was changed from Vonšov to Onšov. Likewise, Skuranovice was henceforth referred to as Skoranovice. In 1921 there were 674 people in the community. In 1923 Martinice u Onšova (with Skoranovice and Popovice) and Těškovice (with Chlovy and Nový Dvůr) broke away and formed their own communities. Only the Onšovský Dvůr settlement remained near Onšov. In 1924 the large estate was parceled out. In 1930 the population was 558, in 1950 there were only 425. Between 1948 and 1961 the community belonged to Okres Pacov and after its dissolution came to Okres Pelhřimov . Chlovy including Těškovice were incorporated in 1961. In 1970 391 people lived in Onšov. Between 1989 and 1990 Onšov was incorporated into Košetice . In 2001 the community had 257 inhabitants.
