Černovice (German Tschernowitz ) is a town with 1761 inhabitants ( January 1, 2014 ) in the Czech Republic . It is located at 594 m above sea level. M. on the border of the Kraj Vysočina and South Moravian Region in the westernmost part of the Křemešnické vrchoviny .
history
The first inhabitants came to the area in the 7th century, but permanent settlement did not take place until the 12th century, when the "Salt Trail" ran through the village from Chýnov to Jindřichův Hradec . Černovice was named a town for the first time in 1323, and in the 14th century the town received a coat of arms. The most famous owners of the city were the Rosenbergs and the Lords of Neuhaus . Černovice lost its town status in 1960 as part of the territorial reform. On March 6, 1991, the place was raised again to the city.
Attractions
In the past, the city was repeatedly destroyed by numerous fires. The most important monument is the castle and the church. The old town hall, from which the fortunes of the city were administered for over 600 years, was converted into a cinema in 1966. The dean's church dates from 1737, the original 14th century church burned down seven years earlier.
The castle, built in 1641 by Martin Paradys , is not open to the public. The ride on the narrow-gauge railway is popular , some of which is still operated by a steam locomotive.

The town consists of the districts Benešov (Beneschau) , Černovice, Dobešov (Dobeschau) , Panské Mlýny, Rytov (Leopoldshöhe) , Střítež (Strietesch) , Svatava (Swatawa) , Vackov (Watzkow) and Vlkosovice (Wilkosowitz) . Basic settlement units are Benešov, Černovice, Dobešov, Dobešov-U Cihelny, Panské Mlýny, Rytov, Stružky, Střítež, Svatava, Vackov and Vlkosovice.
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Benešov, Černovice u Tábora, Dobešov u Černovic, Střítež u Černovic, Svatava u Černovic and Vlkosovice.
