Jiřice (German Jirschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers northwest of Vlašim and belongs to the Okres Pelhřimov .
geography
Jiřice is located on the Vaňkův Kopec hill (590 m) in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The route of the D 1 motorway passes in the north and east, the next exit of which is at Koberovice .
Neighboring towns are Háj and Horní Rápotice in the north, Brunka and Světlický Dvůr in the northeast, Humpolec in the southeast, Hněvkovice in the south, Močidla in the southwest, Petrovice and Lhotka in the west and Speřice and Radostin in the northwest.
history
The place is a foundation of the Premonstratensian monastery Želiv . The village in the Borek border forest is named after its locator . It was first mentioned in 1226 in the certificate of ownership of the monastery by Honorius III. as Velké Juřice .
In 1860 there were about 600 people in Jiřice and in the middle of the 20th century there were about 1000 who earned their living mainly in the textile factories of Humpolec and also practiced little agriculture.

The municipality Jiřice consists of the districts Jiřice ( Jirschitz ), Močidla ( Mocidla ) and Speřice ( Sperschitz ) as well as the locality Radostín. Basic settlement units are Jiřice, Radostín-Kopaniny and Speřice.
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Jiřice u Humpolce and Speřice.
Attractions
- Church of St. James the Elder, the originally Gothic building from 1350 was expanded to include a sacristy in the middle of the 17th century. In 1772 the nave was rebuilt, in 1803 the choir was redesigned and in 1905 the neo-Gothic tower was added.
