Doug Wimbish (born September 22, 1956 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American bassist and has played for Jeff Beck , Mick Jagger , Madonna , George Clinton , Depeche Mode , Mos Def , Schiller (music project) and Tarja Turunen , among others . He became known for using effects in the bass game.

Doug started playing guitar when he was 12 and bass when he was 14. In 1979 he was hired as a rhythm section for Sugarhill Records , along with guitarist Skip McDonald and drummer Keith LeBlanc . There he played u. a. at Grandmaster Flashs "The Message". Wimbish went to London with McDonald and LeBlanc in 1984 and worked with producer Adrian Sherwood . At that time the group Tackhead was founded.

In 1992 he joined Living Color after Muzz Skillings left the band. He became a sought-after studio musician, so he played on the Rolling Stones' 1997 record "Bridges to Babylon" .

After the temporary end of Living Color, he formed the band Jungle Funk with the drummer Will Calhoun and the vocalist Vinx, which recorded the successful album of the same name. The band headfake was developed from this constellation .

In 2016 he appeared together with other artists at Schiller (music project) during the arena tour, which was recorded with the concert in the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin on the Blu-ray "Time Travel - Live".
