The ruins of the Choustník Castle (German: Chaußnik) are located 11 km southeast of Tábor in the Czech Republic .
history
Choustník Castle was built by Beneš von Choustník before 1282 . The second construction phase was carried out a hundred years later by the Lords of Rosenberg , who fortified it so strongly that this castle withstood all attempts at conquest during the Hussite Wars . Since the end of the 15th century, South Bohemia was hardly affected by war events, so that the castle lost its importance and was no longer maintained since the second half of the 16th century. Today, most of its outer walls have been renewed, as have some of the inner walls and the tower, which offers a beautiful view of the landscape.
