The Kratochvíle Castle (German: Schloss Kurzweil) is located northwest of Petrův Dvůr in the Okres Prachatice in the Czech Republic .
history
The old castle Kratochvíle built on the site of yard Rohn , who up to the Hussite wars the monastery Zlatá part and then to the Rosenberger fell. In its place, Wilhelm von Rosenberg built a Renaissance palace in the style of an Italian country house between 1583 and 1589 .
The castle was built according to plans by the Italian master builder Baldassare Maggi . In the entrance area and the dining room on the ground floor there are paintings with hunting motifs by Georg Widmann. The paintings on the ceilings of the common rooms with motifs from Roman history were created by Antonio Melana. The castle church, which was built at the same time, was painted by Georg Widmann based on models by Albrecht Dürer .
The castle is surrounded by a castle garden with walls and moats. Until 2007 there was an exhibition of Czech cartoon and animation in the castle.
