history

Archaeological finds that can be assigned to the Celtic Stradonitz culture prove that the area was settled since 400 BC. At Rakousy gold soaps and shards were found, which are associated with the Celtic oppidum Hostěradice. It is believed that the area was founded in the 1st millennium BC. Was settled by the Knovíz culture . The original place name Krnian is of Celtic origin.

The first written mention of Krnian comes from 1061 and shows the village as the property of the Insula Monastery . During the Hussite Wars, the place was one of the first to switch to the new teaching. In 1419, the Hussite entourage traveled through Krnian to the main camp in Křížkový Újezdec , where Václav Koranda preached. Rafting settlements emerged along the Vltava in the 16th century. In the final years of the Thirty Years' War, Swedish and imperial troops moved from Zbraslav via Krňany towards Benešov , where they met in the Battle of Jankau in 1645 .

After the abolition of patrimonial Krňany formed with the districts Třebšín and Dolní Rakousy from 1848 a municipality in the judicial district Neweklau and in the district Benešov. In 1912 the owner of the Chlístov farm imported the garden strawberry from the USA and started growing it. In the 1920s, Třebšín became self-employed. During this time, the Krňanský potok was regulated as a flood protection measure. In 1926 the village school started teaching. During the Second World War in 1942 the community was evacuated in order to establish the Beneschau SS military training area . In May 1945 Krňany was settled again. On January 1, 1961, Třebsín was incorporated as well as Teletín and Chlístov, which had previously belonged to Vysoký Újezd . On July 1, 1974, the municipality was reclassified to Okres Praha-západ , since the beginning of 1996 it has belonged again to Okres Benešov .

Of the 341 inhabitants of the village, 167 live in Krňany, 106 in Třebsín and 68 in Teletín. Today, Krňany is primarily a resort with numerous holiday homes.
