Český Šternberk / Bohemian Sternberg:

The first written mention of Český Šternberk comes from the year 1242. The place originated as a castle settlement below the Český Šternberk castle and was enlarged over time.

In 1901 Český Šternberk received a railway connection, which had a positive effect on the tourist development of the castle.

The watermill in the north of the village from the end of the 16th century was reconstructed around 1920. The mill weir in the Sázava was renewed in the 1970s. The place was expanded with the construction of single-family houses on the right bank of the river. There is a campsite in Český Šternberk.

On October 17, 2006, Český Šternberk was raised to Městys .
