Saikai ( Jap. 西海市 , -shi ) is a city of Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan .
geography
Saikai is north of Nagasaki on the northern half of the Nishisonogi Peninsula . To the north is the Sasebo Bay , to the west the maritime area sumo nada and in the east the Ōmura Bay . These belong to the East China Sea .
history
Today's Saikai was founded on April 1, 2005 through the merger of the city of the same name with four other municipalities.
