Gotō ( Japanese 五 島 市 , - shi ) is a city in Nagasaki Prefecture on the Gotō Islands in Japan .
history
Gotō was created on August 1, 2004 from the merger of the Shi Fukue ( 福 江 市 , -shi ), the Chō Tomie ( 富 江 町 , -chō ), Tamanoura ( 玉 之 浦 町 , -chō ), Miuraku ( 三井 楽 , -chō ), Kishiku ( 岐 宿 , -chō ) and Naru ( 奈 留 , -chō ) of the Minamimatsuura-gun .
Fukue is an old castle town with the former Fukue Castle .

The national road 384 runs through Gotō. The airport 3rd class Airport Gotō-Fukue is also located in the city.
