Al-Ahli ( Arabic النادي الأهلي, DMG an-Nādī al-Ahlī ) is a Saudi sports club in Jeddah . The club is one of the largest in the country. The men's soccer team plays in the Saudi Professional League . The team plays their home games in the Prince Sultan bin Fahd Stadium. Just like the Saudi Arabian national soccer team , al-Ahli plays in green and white jerseys and traditionally has many Saudi national players in the squad. Although founded in 1937, the footballers have little to show for countable successes in the championship. So far they have only won three championships, 1978, 1984 and 2016. With ten titles in the King's Cup, however, they are the record holder. The greatest international success was reaching the finals of the AFC Champions League in 1986. There they lost to the Daewoo Royals with 1: 3.

In the 2008/09 season, al-Ahli took 3rd place and qualified again, after 2008 and for the third time in a row, for the AFC Champions League . The club management was anything but satisfied with the performance in the league. In the cup, the team failed in the quarterfinals. As a consequence, the Bulgarian coach Stoycho Mladenov was sacked in addition to some players . In 2012 the club reached the final of the AFC Champions League again.
