Kwame Ayew (born December 28, 1973 in Accra ) is a former Ghanaian soccer player .

Kwame Ayew is the younger brother of the Ghanaian FIFA 100 footballer Abédi Pelé . Although he is not considered to be technically well-versed, he makes up for this with his speed and high physical resilience. He is known as a classic counter-attacker.

Kwame Ayew began his football career in 1990 at the Ivorian club Africa Sports from Abidjan . But that year he moved to FC Metz in France . After Ghana won third place in the football tournament at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona , he was signed by Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia . There he played so successfully that he aroused the interest of the Italian club US Lecce . After two less successful years in Serie A , Ayew moved to Portugal , where he was only a substitute in his first season at União Leiria . After another, better year for Vitória Setúbal , he was signed by the top club Boavista Porto , where he had two very successful years. Nevertheless, he moved to league rivals Sporting Lisbon . When he was less successful here, he moved to Yozgatspor in Turkey after only one season . But even here it didn't last long, so he moved on to Kocaelispor . In 2003 he moved to Shenyang Ginde in the Chinese league . From 2004 to 2006 he played for Xi'an Chanba , until 2005 the club was still called Shanghai International . There he was also the top scorer in 2005.

In January 2007 Ayew moved to Vitória Setúbal , where he signed until the end of the season and then ended his career.

National team

In 1992, Kwame Ayew won his most important international award when he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games with Ghana . In the senior national team , he completed a total of 69 international matches between 1992 and 2001, in which he scored 36 goals.
