Yozgatspor is a Turkish football club from the central Anatolian city of Yozgat , which plays in the Boelgesel Amatoer Ligi , the fifth-highest division in Turkey. The club colors are black and red. The club played two seasons in the Süper Lig in the 2000s and is 57th in the all-time table of the Süper Lig .
history
Foundation and name change
Yozgatspor was founded on January 23, 1959 under the name Yozgat Karagümrük Spor Kulübü ( Yozgat Karagümrük for short ), through the adoption of the statutes, by President Nedim Korkmaz, Selahattin Ulusoy, Selahattin Allıoğlu, Murat Yunceğ, Rahmi Çüanşet Üerli, Doğaman , Erdal Doğruyol, and Orhan Çıtak with the colors black & red. Until 1961 the club played under the name Karagümrük in the Yozgat Amatör Küme Futbol Ligi, until the general assembly on June 28, 1961 decided to name the club Bozokspor .
From Bozokspor to Yeni Yozgatspor
Bozokspor got in the 1982/83 season the chance to move up through promotion games in the then newly founded TFF 2nd Lig (3rd League). Previously, board members of the Yibitaş were elected to the board of the association. The team took third place behind the champions Yeni Afyonspor and Adıyamanspor . After one season, the promotion to the third division was perfect and Bozokspor rose with coach Burhan Yılmaz behind Kahramanmaraşspor in second place. So Bozokspor took part in the 1984/85 season in the TFF 2nd Lig. Since the hoped-for success did not materialize, the coach Zeki Özaydın and later the board members of Yibitaş Holding left the club. The club's name was changed to Yeni Yozgatspor on July 28, 1985 . Yeni Yozgatspor got into financial difficulties in his first season in the 2nd Lig.
With Yimpaş to success
The supermarket chain Yimpaş supported the association financially and it was decided on September 20, 1997 to change the name to Yimpaş Yozgatspor , or YYS for short . The board of directors was led by Mehmet Erdemir, Mehmet Kaplan, Kadir Şöhret, Ünal Dursun, Satılmış Dağ, Zeki Kara and İnan Soyer. Under the name Yimpaş Yozgatspor , the team achieved good results in the second division.
Promotion to the Turkish 1st Lig
In the second division season 1999/2000 Yimpaş Yozgatspor reached the promotion group of the league, in which the ten strongest teams of the 2nd Lig played for promotion to the top division of Turkish football. Yimpaş Yozgatspor played against Kombassan Konyaspor , Çaykur Rizespor, Siirt Jetpaspor , Kayserispor, Sarıyer, Izmirspor, Konya Endüstrispor, among others . YYS finished the promotion group (tr: yükselme grubu) of the 2nd Futbol ligi as champions and was promoted to the first division for the first time in the club's history.
Yozgatspor in the Türkiye 1. Ligi or the Süper Lig
In the 2000/01 season YYS played in the Türkiye 1. Ligi. The team of coach Hüseyin Kalpar played the opening game away against Beşiktaş Istanbul. The 3-0 defeat did not unsettle the team and the goal of relegation was achieved in the first season with 7th place. Perhaps the most interesting game of the season was played by YYS against traditional club Galatasaray . The UEFA Cup winners had previously beaten Real Madrid 3-2. In the first two minutes, Preko and Ayew scored for the home team and gave Yimpaş Yozgatspor a 2-0 lead. After a missed penalty from Ümit Davala , YYS could no longer take the victory and they won 4: 2.
In the 2001/02 season Yimpaş Yozgatspor played in the Süper Lig , as the Turkish association changed the name of the league. This season was not so good for the Yiğits from Yozgat. The financial crisis also affected Y. Yozgatspor and they ended the season in last place and relegated to the second division.
End of the Yimpaş era
At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, the newly elected board decided to dissolve the sponsorship agreement with Yimpaş Holding and the club was renamed Yozgatspor . After just one season, it was changed back to Yimpaş Yozgatspor A.Ş.
Relegation to the regional amateur league
With the last game of the 2013/14 season, Yozgatspor's time in professional leagues also ended. The team landed after the 34th matchday of the TFF 3rd Lig with 39 points in 16th place just behind Van Büyüksehir Belediyespor and relegated to the BAL (amateur league). After 29 years in Turkish professional leagues, Yozgatspor will again fight for promotion from the amateur league. With the descent, the club name was also changed to Yozgatspor Ticaret Anonim Şirketi , or Yozgatspor TAŞ for short.
Club logo
Before the start of the 2010/11 season, the Yozgat club replaced the old logo with a new one on which the sponsor Yimpaş is no longer on it. In 2014 the logo was changed again.
