Uğur Tütüneker (born August 2, 1963 in Bursa ) is a Turkish soccer coach and former soccer player .
Player career
FC Bayern Munich
Tütüneker began in the youth team of FC Bayern Munich and made the leap into the squad of the fighting team in 1984 via the amateur team. In that era, however, a team could only have two foreign players on the field at the same time. In Bavaria in those years, the Belgian national goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff and the Danish midfield conductor Søren Lerby were indispensable fixed points, which reduced Tütüneker's chances of playing for the second team. However, as part of the team, he was twice German champion and German cup winner.
Galatasaray Istanbul
In 1986, Tütüneker moved to Galatasaray Istanbul for the pleasant transfer fee of 50,000 marks , where the former German national coach Jupp Derwall revolutionized Turkish football. Tütüneker belonged to a group of Turkish-born players trained in Germany such as Erhan Önal , Savaş Koç and Erdal Keser , who significantly supported Derwall's endeavors.
In his first year in Istanbul, Tütüneker received a regular place in the midfield. He played 32 games and scored twelve goals. That season he was the team's top scorer. Tütüneker stayed with Galatasaray for ten years and ended his career after 222 league games and 40 goals.
He became national champion four times with Galatasaray and also experienced many victories in various cup competitions.
National team
On December 3, 1986 (3: 2 against Switzerland), November 18, 1987 (0: 0 against Norway) and on May 25, 1988 (3: 1 in Bulgaria) he was active for the Olympic team. Tütüneker completed 19 games for the senior national team between 1986 and 1992 and scored one goal. He made his debut on October 29, 1986 in the 4-0 defeat by Yugoslavia . In his 14th international match , on February 27, 1991, in a 1-1 draw against Yugoslavia, he scored his only goal with the opening goal in the 4th minute. He played his last game on November 18, 1992 in the 4-0 defeat by England .
Coaching career
His first position as a trainer was Tütünekers at Yozgatspor. After a short stopover at Sariyer in Siirt, he worked at Siirtspor . There he made promotion to the first Turkish league with the team. He then worked as a trainer at Kayserispor , Yozgatspor , Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and İstanbulspor . The last coaching station was the newly promoted Kasımpaşa Istanbul . On March 9, 2009 Tütüneker was given leave of absence from his association Kasımpaşa.
For the 2010/11 season he took over the second division Orduspor and led the table with the team for a long time. Towards the end of the season he resigned after criticism of his person, which arose after some bad results, and was not persuaded by the club management to continue his position. He was then replaced by Metin Diyadin . This led the team to the play-off final and the play-off victory in the Süper Lig .
For the new season, the first division relegated Kasımpaşa Istanbul took over from the TFF 1. Lig . He also played for a long time with this club for the top of the table and resigned towards the end of the season. He was again replaced by Metin Diyadin , who won the play-off game with the team and thus secured direct promotion.
Before the 14th matchday of the 2012/13 season and with a valid contract until June 30, 2014, he took over the second division Torku Konyaspor and replaced Hüsnü Özkara here . This then relegation-threatened club he reached the playoffs of the league at the end of the season. In these playoffs in which the last promoted knockout system is determined, you reached the final. In the final, they beat Manisaspor 2-0 and were promoted to the Süper Lig . After the 15th matchday of the 2013/14 season, he announced his resignation in the subsequent press conference of the game against Kardemir Karabükspor and left the city on the same evening.
In mid-February 2014 Tütüneker was introduced as the new head coach at the first division club Çaykur Rizespor . Tütüneker took over Rizespor in 16th place in the table, the top relegation place, and led the club to secure relegation. Despite this success, Rizespor did not extend the contract with him.
On December 3, 2014 Tütüneker became a coach at the first division club Kayseri Erciyesspor and succeeded Bülent Korkmaz . Tütüneker resigned as head coach of SAI Kayseri Erciyesspor after five weeks.
In the winter break of the 2014/15 season, Tütüneker took over the second division club Osmanlıspor FK . He led this club to the runner-up at the end of the season and thus to the hoped-for promotion to the Süper Lig . After this success, Tütüneker should continue his work in the 2015/16 season. But since the club's management acted hesitantly with new signings and did not change his stance even at the urging of Tütüneker, he announced his resignation in early July 2015.
The Swiss second division FC Wil signed him for the 2016/17 season , however, on August 24, 2016, because of an arrest warrant issued against Tütüneker in Turkey for alleged involvement in an attempted coup against Turkish President Recep Erdoğan . The start of the season was also not very appealing.
He returned to Turkey in early September and was arrested immediately upon arrival. However, he was released after only a few days. From September 2019 to March 2020 he coached the second division Adana Demirspor .
