Ali Erdal Keser (born June 20, 1961 in Sivas ) is a former Turkish football player and coach and current functionary .
Player career
Erdal Keser came to Germany at the age of 10, grew up in Hagen (Westphalia) and lives there with his wife and two children. For 16 years he worked as a professional soccer player for Borussia Dortmund , Galatasaray Istanbul and the Turkish national soccer team. In his youth, Keser played for SSV Hagen . After his active time, he trained as a football teacher, at the same time he was assistant coach of the Turkish national team. In the spring of 2006, after four years as technical director of the Turkish Football Association, he resigned from his position to devote himself to other tasks. Among other things, he takes care of the expansion of medical care in Turkey .
Coaching career
From 2007 to 2009 he assisted the Belgian trainer Eric Gerets at Galatasaray Istanbul as his assistant trainer and interpreter. In the 2014/2015 season he managed to stay in the league as an interim coach of the Swiss second division club FC Wil , after which he became head of sports at FC Wil.
Further career
Erdal Keser was the European coordinator of the Turkish Football Association until 2001. Since the beginning of 2013, Keser has been the chief scout of Galatasaray Istanbul. At the beginning of 2014 he was supposed to become the sporting director of Galatasaray, but was then asked by the club to take more care of Galatasaray's interests in Europe. This includes, in particular, the promotion of young people in partner associations. Since the summer of 2014, Keser has been Galatasaray's sporting coordinator in the international field.
Remarkable
Keser was a member of the supervisory board of Avicenna Hospital AG (project for modern care in Turkey). Since June 1, 2002, he has been the patron of Parental Aid for Children with Rett Syndrome .
