Hüsnü Özkara (born January 25, 1955 in Trabzon ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. He was part of the legendary team that became the first Anatolian soccer team to win the Turkish soccer championship and subsequently dominated Turkish soccer . Through this longstanding activity for Trabzonspor , he is associated with this club and referred to as one of the most important players in club history on the fan and club side. He is also important for MKE Ankaragücü because of his almost eight years of activity.

Player career

society

Özkara learned to play football on the street and was discovered in 1975 by the talent scouts of the first division team in his hometown, Trabzonspor , and added to the squad. In his first season for Trabzonspor he was more of a reserve player and only made two league games. His club surprisingly reached the Turkish championship . Up to this season, the three big Istanbul clubs Beşiktaş Istanbul , Fenerbahçe Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul decided the championship of the Süper Lig among themselves. With Eskişehirspor , another Anatolian club narrowly missed the championship three times, but the ban remained. It was only solved with Trabzonspor's championship. After this championship, the league was dominated the next season and, in addition to the championship, collected all the other trophies in Turkish football by winning the Turkish Football Cup and the Turkish Supercup . It was not until the 1977/78 season that the championship was awarded to Fenerbahçe with a point difference, but the two other trophies were won. Özkara was used sporadically until the summer of 1977. After the missed championship in 1977/78, a revision was carried out in the squad and many seasoned professionals were given up. Özkara stayed in the squad as a young player and was henceforth a regular player. The team recovered relatively quickly and became Turkish football champions again over the next three seasons. In the season 1981/82 the club missed the title defense and carried out a revision in the squad. This revision also fell victim to Özkara and was transferred to the league rivals MKE Ankaragücü .

Özkara then played six seasons for Ankaragücü, making him one of the longest-serving players in the club's history.

For the season he moved to the East Anatolian club Kahramanmaraşspor . This club rose to the highest Turkish league for the first time in the club's history and wanted to strengthen its squad with seasoned professionals. So Özkara was brought in. The club had a bad season and was relegated very early. In order to keep the damage in check, many players were released.

So Özkara switched back to Ankaragücü. Here he played for one and a half seasons and ended his active football career in the summer of 1990.

National team

Özkara played for the Turkish national team for the first time in a friendly against the national team of Saudi Arabia . After this encounter he was a permanent fixture in the national team for three years and played a total of eight times for the red-whites. November 1982 he was called into the squad during a qualifying match for the European Championship 1984 against the Austrian national team and played for Turkey for the last time at this encounter.

In addition, at the age of 27, he made two games for the Turkish U-21 national team . The circumstances of these stakes are so far unclear.

Coaching career

Following his professional football career, he switched to coaching and was the first to take on the post of head coach at Petkimspor . The following seasons he coached almost exclusively teams from the lower Turkish professional leagues, including Zonguldakspor .

In the summer of 2002 he took over the then second division Konyaspor and reached with this club at the end of the 2002/03 season the championship of the TFF 1st Lig and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . He also looked after the club in the Süper Lig, but was dismissed because of poor results.

He then trained various second division teams without any major successes.

In October he replaced the resigned Osman Özköylü at the newly promoted and second division side Elazığspor . He quickly led the club on the road to success and quickly took the lead in the TFF 1st Lig. In the course of the season, this lead was even safely expanded. Towards the end of the season, the club experienced a slump and lost the top of the table. The club's board reacts and replaces Ozkara with Bülent Uygun .

In the summer of 2012 he was introduced as the new head coach at Torku Konyaspor . After a disappointing season, his contract was terminated after the 12th match day after mutual agreement with the club management and the employment relationship ended.

In the summer of 2013 Özkara was introduced to third division Aydınspor 1923 as the new head coach. Here he worked until the next November and then left this club again.

For the 37th matchday of the second division season 2013/14 Özkara Orduspor took over , following the dismissed Erkan Sözeri . He looked after this club until the end of the season and left it again after the end of the contract.
