history

The competition for the Turkish Club Cup was held for the first time in the 1962/63 season. The first final for the cup took place with a return leg. Galatasaray Istanbul and Fenerbahçe Istanbul faced each other in the final . Both the first and the second leg Galatasaray had won 2-1 and thus became the first winner of the Türkiye Kupası.

mode

There are 4 qualifying rounds without a second leg, followed by the final round, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The final rounds are played on a neutral seat, there is also no second leg. In the event of a tie, there will be two extra times of 15 minutes, followed by a penalty shootout.

In the first qualifying round, 8 best teams from the previous season of the TFF 2. Lig and the teams that were promoted from the TFF 3. Lig in the previous season start in the two groups . This is a total of 22 teams.

In the second qualifying round, the 11 teams that have won will be drawn among the relegated teams in the Süper Lig and the 8 best teams in the TFF 1st Lig who were unable to advance. The remaining 6 teams of the TFF 1st Lig will be drawn against each other. A total of 14 teams advance.

In the 3rd qualifying round, the 14 teams from the 2nd qualifying round will meet the 14 best teams in the Süper Lig, the 15th in the Süper Lig and the 3 promoted teams in the TFF 1st Lig are drawn. A total of 16 teams qualify for the fourth round.

In the 4th qualifying round, the 16 teams are divided into seeded and unset teams and drawn together.

The quarter-finals will be played on a neutral place determined by the TFF . The semi-finals will be determined during the quarter-finals draw.

Before the 2011/12 season there was a group stage, followed by a quarter-finals. Since 2000, the teams have only played once in the final. In previous years there was a first leg and a second leg.

International participation

If the winner has qualified for the Champions League via the Süper Lig or takes part in the Champions League qualification, the right to participate in the UEFA Europa League automatically passes to the loser of the final. If both finalists have already qualified for the Champions League or Europa League via the Süper Lig, the top-ranked club in the Süper Lig that is not qualified for at least the UEFA Europa League will join them.
