The Diyarbakır Stadyumu ( German  Diyarbakır Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Turkish city of Kayapınar in the Diyarbakır Province , southeastern Anatolia . The owner is the Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı ( German  Ministry for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey ). The football arena offers 33,000 seats in the stands. It is the home ground of the Diyarbakırspor , Diyarbekirspor and Amed SK football clubs . It replaced the Diyarbakır Ataturk Stadyumu from 1960.

history

Turkey's stadium development program created more than two dozen stadiums in a decade. Only a few of them were built in the east of the country. The main exceptions are Gaziantep Stadyumu and Diyarbakır Stadyumu. The two largest cities in Southeast Anatolia are football strongholds in the region. In 2012, Toplu Konut İdaresi Başkanlığı (TOKİ, German  State Housing Authority ) included the city of Diyarbakır in the development program. The following year the concept was ready and construction could officially begin in spring 2014. The construction company Yıldızlar Grup was responsible for the construction. At that time, the future home club Diyarbakırspor was dissolved due to high debts and had to relegate to the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig ( German  Local Amateur League ) after you failed to play two games . It was feared that the lower class club could not fill the stadium. There were also delays in construction. Originally, a construction time of 800 days was assumed. In the end, it was more than 1400 days and in April 2018 the construction began. The initially planned construction costs of TRY 126 million became TRY 160 million. The stadium was built more than three kilometers west of the next settlement. The development of the city was taken into account. At the time of handover, the new residential areas had almost reached the stadium building. The football arena and the surrounding parking spaces cover an area of around 25,000 hectares . The system with upper and lower tier represents an eight-pointed star when viewed from above . This is based on the ancient city wall of Amed , which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015 . It is depicted as an octagonal fortress on the city arms. The plastic seats on the four tiers are designed in the colors of the three home clubs ( red , green and white ). The city name Diyarbakır is displayed with seats on the lower tier of the opposite stand. The Diyarbakır Stadyumu was the scene of the final in the Türkiye Kupası 2017/18 ( German  Turkish Cup ) on May 10, 2018 . The outsider Akhisar Belediyespor defeated the six-time winner Fenerbahçe Istanbul 3-2 in front of 20,000 spectators and celebrated his first cup victory. On May 15, Diyarbekirspor met Tire 1922 Spor in their first game, in front of a sold out house, and won 4-0.
