The Bölgesel Amatoer Lig (short BAL or BAL Lig ) has been the fifth highest league and highest amateur division in Turkish football since it was founded in summer 2010 . Before it was re-established, it was held between 1991 and 1995.
The Boelgesel Amatoer Lig consists of eleven groups (2010/11: twelve groups, 2011/12 and 2012/13: 13 groups), where each game is played in the "everyone against everyone" mode with a return game. The first two best placed in the eleven groups (22 teams) qualify for the play-off promotion round, which leads to promotion to the TFF 3rd Lig . The first-placed of the eleven groups get into the second play-off round without a fight. Eight of the remaining eleven teams will be drawn for the first play-off round and will play a play-off against each other on neutral ground. The three teams that were not drawn for the first play-off round also come to the second play-off round without a fight.
The second play-off round consists of the first place in the eleven groups, the four winning teams from the first play-off round and the three teams that received a bye in the first round. These 18 teams in turn contest a play-off on neutral ground, the winners of which advance to the lowest professional division in Turkish football, the TFF 3rd Lig .
The last two in the groups are relegated to the Süper Amatoer Lig .
