Çatalcaspor is a Turkish football club from the Çatalca district , which belongs to Istanbul .

history

Early years

Çatalcaspor was founded in 1942 and has spent many years in the amateur leagues of Istanbul. In the 1995/96 season, the team finished the 1st Amatoer Lig (Group 2) without defeat, but you had to share first place with Hadımköyspor , which is why a playoff was set between the two teams, which Çatalcaspor could win. Then you played in the play-off games for the 3rd Lig in its first round against Bigaspor and Marmara Ereğlispor and was second.

The Akbulut era

Under the direction of coach Kadir Akbulut , who was newly signed for the 2011/12 season, the club rose to the highest possible amateur league for the first time in its history, the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig . The debut season in the BAL could be finished on the 9th place, thus the league was achieved. In contrast, the 2013/14 season was even more successful, Çatalcaspor achieved second place with 63 points after a significant increase in performance and only lost one game during the entire season. By reaching second place in the table, Çatalcaspor qualified for the second round of play-off games that lead into the TFF 3rd Lig . There they defeated Sultanbeyli Belediyespor 2-0 on April 26, 2014 and advanced to the final, where they met Edirne Spor Gençlik on May 4, 2014 , who could be defeated 1-0. Thus, the first ascent in the club's history to the TFF 3rd Lig was perfect. With the promotion to the 3rd Lig, Çatalcaspor is also considered a professional club for the first time.
