Payasspor is a Turkish football club from the port city of Payas in the southern Turkish province of Hatay . The club was founded in 1975 and has the club colors blue and white.

history

Foundation and the first years

The club was founded in 1975 under the name Payas Gençlikspor in the port city of Payas. The club colors were blue and white. Blue should symbolize the Mediterranean Sea , on which the city of Payas is located, and white the foam crown of the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. In 1982 the club changed its name to Payasspor . In 1992, the club was then renamed Payas Belediyespor , which means Payas municipal sports club and is intended to indicate the bond with the city administration. With the promotion to the Boelgesel Amatoer Ligi (short BAL), the highest Turkish amateur league, in the summer of 2012, the club changed its name to Payas Belediyespor 1975 .

Entry into professional football

Promoted to the Boelgesel Amatoer Ligi, the club established itself at the top of the table in its first season, the 2012/13 season, and fought head-to-head for the championship with 44 Malatyaspor throughout the season . The team finally finished the season confidently as the first in the table and rose for the first time in the club's history in the TFF 3rd Lig , the lowest Turkish professional league. This rise also meant the club's first participation in Turkish professional football.

From the 2015/16 season, the club used its old name Payasspor again .
