The club had its most successful period in 1978/79, where promotion to the Süper Lig was achieved in the summer of 1978 and the 1978/79 season was spent in this league. This summer, the club also won the youth and sports ministry trophy .
history
- In 1930 workers at the MKE armaments factory played football among themselves. On behalf of the then managing director Fikret Karabudak Paşa, today's stadium was built by MKE Kırıkkalespor.
- In 1957 Avni Gürsel Bey, the stadium's engineer at the time, founded a third amateur team, Kırıkkale İdman Yurdu . The team initially plays in the 4th group of the 4th league, but rose to the 1st group as early as the 1958-1959 season. At this time the present coat of arms of the association was created.
- 1967-68 The team was renamed MKE Kırıkkalespor. Under the aegis of coach Yılmaz Akcan, the team made it to the 3rd division. Back then there was still the Kırıkkalegücü team that played in the stadium.
- In 1967 both teams merged.
- 1973-74 was promoted to the 2nd division. Kırıkkalespor was the only team that has not lost a single time since it was founded up to the second division, eight years. That record still exists. In the same season, the team played against Mersin İdman Yurdu for promotion. After a game interruption, Kırıkkalespor was declared a loser, but was still allowed to rise.
- 1974-1975 The club rose after financial problems from the first division.
Systemic relegation to the TFF 2nd Lig
Since Turkish professional football was to undergo fundamental changes in the 2001/02 season, preparations for this change were made in the 2000/01 season. So far, professional football in Turkey has consisted of three leagues: the top division, the single-lane Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi , the second-rate five-lane and two-stage Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi and the third-rate, eight -lane Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi . For the 2001/02 season, professional football was expanded to four professional leagues. While the Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi remained unchanged, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi was now in the second highest division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Aategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category A of Turkey ), and the third highest division , the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Bategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category B of Turkey ), divided. The subordinate Türkiye 3rd Futbol Ligi was henceforth the fourth highest division, the TFF 3rd Lig . Those teams, which only occupied a middle place in the table in the second division season 2000/01 , were assigned to the newly created third-highest Turkish division, the 2. Lig, for the coming season. Kırıkkalespor, which had ended the league in 5th place in the table, had to relegate to the 2nd Lig due to the system.
Return to professional football
In order to free itself from the debts accumulated over the years, the club was given up in the summer of 2015 and instead, by mutual agreement, the local club Türk Metal Gençlikspor first renamed Türk Metal Kırıkkalespor and then took over. In the second season, the club played the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig for the championship for the entire season and returned to professional football in summer 2016 with promotion to the TFF 3rd Lig .
