The Spor Toto 3rd Lig 2017/18 was the 17th season of the fourth-highest Turkish league to be in men's football. It began on August 26, 2017 with the first match day and ended on May 23, 2018 with the play-off games between the second to fifth placed finishers in all three groups.

Competition mode

Unlike in the previous season , the total number of teams was reduced from 55 teams to 54 teams. This achieved the goal of creating the league with three groups of 18 teams each. This was not possible last season as Cizrespor was kept in the league despite relegation taking into account special events. Thus, these 54 teams played in three groups of 18 teams each for promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig or against relegation to the regional amateur league. The division of the league was not carried out regionally. In the first stage, the normal league phase, all first-placed teams rose directly to the TFF 2. Lig, while the three last-placed teams in the groups of 18 teams relegated to the Bölgesel Amatoer Ligi . The division of the teams into the respective groups was determined by a draw on July 10, 2017 in the central training facilities of the Turkish Football Association in Istanbul's Beykoz district . The draw for the game schedule was drawn on July 12, 2016 at the same point. Furthermore, in the first stage, the normal league phase, it was determined which teams qualify for the second stage, for the playoff phase. The second to fifth placed in all groups qualified for the playoffs.

In the playoff phase, the last three promoted players were determined by the knockout system . A separate playoff round was carried out for each group. In each of these playoffs a promoted player was played. The semi-finals were decided with a home and away leg and thus form a rule change from last season, in which the semi-finals were decided with a match in a city that was neutral for all participating teams. The play-off finals, however, were included as last year a game and took place in cities that were neutral for all participating teams.

Beginning of the season were to the previous season remaining 38 teams, the six relegated from the Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK , Büyükçekmece Tepecikspor , Ofspor , Aydınspor 1923 , 1461 Trabzon , Kayseri Erciyesspor and the nine climbers Ergene Velimeşe SK , Güzelorduspor , Osmaniyespor FK , Karaköprü Belediyespor , Turgutluspor , Utaş Uşakspor , Erokspor , Yeni Altindağ Belediyespor , Mardin 47 Spor from the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig were added. The total number of teams was reduced with this season from 57 with 18 teams in two groups and 19 teams in one group.
