The Spor Toto 3rd Lig 2014/15 was the 14th season of the fourth highest Turkish division in men's football. It began on September 7, 2014 with the first match day and ended on May 28, 2015 with the playoff games between the second to fifth placed in all three groups.

Competition mode

As in the previous season , 54 teams played in three groups of 18 teams each for promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig and against relegation to the regional amateur league. The division of the league was not carried out regionally. In the first stage, the normal league phase, all first-placed teams went straight to the TFF 2nd Lig, while the three last-placed teams in all groups were relegated to the Boelgesel Amatoer Ligi . The division of the teams into the respective groups was determined by a draw in July 2014. The draw for this season was drawn on June 24, 2014 in the Orhan Saka House of Amateurs (Turkish: Orhan Saka Amatörler Evi ) in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul . Furthermore, in the first stage, the normal league phase, it was also determined which teams had qualified for the second stage, for the playoff phase. The second to fifth placed in all groups qualified for the playoffs.

In the playoff phase, the last three promoted players were determined by the knockout system . A separate playoff round was carried out for each group. In each of these playoffs a promoted player was played. The semi-finals were decided with a round trip and thus formed a rule change from last season, in which the semi-finals were decided with a match in a city that was neutral for all participating teams. The play-off finals, however, were with last year a game and took place in cities that were neutral for all participating teams.

Composition of participants

At the beginning of the season, the six relegated teams from the TFF 2. Lig Eyüpspor , Istanbul Güngörenspor , Bozüyükspor , Dardanelspor , Gaziosmanpaşaspor , Çankırıspor and the nine promoted teams from the Çine Madranspor , Erzin Belediyespor , Halide Edip SK are added to the 39 teams remaining from the previous season . Çatalcaspor , Niğde Belediyespor , Tire 1922 Spor , Bayburt Grup İl Özel İdare GS , Etimesgut Belediyespor , Zonguldak Kömürspor were added.

Season course

League phase

Tuzlaspor from 1st group played the entire season with Darıca Gençlerbirliği for the championship lead. After the autumn championship was awarded to this opponent, the team finally took the lead on the 24th matchday and secured the championship and thus the direct promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig on the 32nd matchday with a 4: 3 away win over Zonguldak Kömürspor . For the first time in its 61-year history, the club took part in the third-highest Turkish league. Eyüpspor took over the championship lead for the second time on the 6th matchday and held it until the last matchday. Thus, the club confidently secured the autumn championship prematurely and on the penultimate matchday with a 2-0 home win against 68 Yeni Aksarayspor prematurely in the championship of Group 3 and thus the direct promotion to the TFF 2. Lig. The traditional Istanbul club Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 On the penultimate match day, SK secured the Group 2 championship with a 4-0 home win against direct promotion rivals Ankara Demirspor and returned to the TFF 2nd Lig after nine years.

In the first group, the West Anatolian team Bozüyükspor were already relegated to the start of the season . This relegated team was joined by Trabzon Akçaabat FK at the start of the second half of the season , which also declared its withdrawal from the league and was thus established as a promoted team according to the association's regulations. The newly promoted group 1 was completed on matchday 30 by the traditional club and former long-time first division team Ankara Şekerspor and relegated to the amateur league for the first time in its history.

From the second group, the financially badly ailing Central Anatolian club Çankırıspor missed the league weeks before the end of the season. On the penultimate matchday, 68 Yeni Aksarayspor was the second and on the last matchday with the Istanbul club Halide Edip Adıvar SK the last relegated group 2.

In the third group, Istanbul Güngörenspor was already on the 31st match day as the first relegated team and thus returned to the regional amateur league after 14 seasons. The other two relegated Kayseri Şekerspor and FBM Makina Balçova Yaşamspor were only confirmed on the last day of the match.

With 19 league goals , Cenk Sarıtaş won the top scorer's crown in the TFF 3rd Lig from the master Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK .

Playoff phase

With the achievement of the table locations two to five eligible darıca gençlerbirliği , Zonguldakspor , İstanbulspor , Çorum Belediyespor ( Group 1 ), Sivas 4 Eylül Belediyespor , Yeni Diyarbakırspor , Denizli B.S.K. , Gölcükspor ( Group 2 ) and Ankara Demirspor , Sakaryaspor , BB Erzurumspor , Silivrispor ( Group 3 ) for participating in the playoffs.

The play-offs of Group 1 won İstanbulspor and returned to the TFF 2nd Lig after five years. In Group 2, Sivas 4 Eylül Belediyespor secured the play-off victory and thus the first promotion and the first participation in the TFF 2nd Lig in its club history. The traditional club and former long-time first division team Ankara Demirspor was the play-off winner of Group 3 and thus returned to the TFF 2. Lig after nine years of abstinence.

Special occurrences

  • In the summer of 2014, the association Tekirova Belediyespor changed its name to Kemer Tekirovaspor .
  • Elibol Sandıklıspor again took its original name Sandıklıspor .
  • The Manavgat Evrensekispor club changed its name to Manavgatspor before the start of the season .
  • In the summer of 2014, Balçova Belediyespor was sold. The new owners named the association in FBM Makina Balçova Yaşamspor ( FBM Balçova Yaşamspor for short ).
  • Erzurum Büyükşehir Belediyespor (short Erzurum BB ) was called before the start of the season in Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor (short BB Erzurumspor ).
  • Due to financial problems, the third division relegated Bozüyükspor announced his withdrawal from the league before the start of the season. The club was the first to be relegated. After this withdrawal, the regulations came into force, according to which teams that did not play two games within a season for no reason automatically had to be relegated. All of the club's games were rated with a 3-0 defeat.
  • After Bozüyükspor, before the start of the second half of the season, Trabzon Akçaabat FK also withdrew from the league and was established as the second relegated team. All remaining players were rated with a 3-0 defeat. In addition, the club received a 3-point deduction from the Turkish Football Association.
  • Due to a name sponsorship agreement with the construction company Sebat Proje Mühendislik Müşavirlik Tic. Ltd. Şti. the club will be called Sebat Proje Trabzon Akçaabat Futbol Kulübü (abbreviated to Sebat Proje Trabzon Akçaabat FK or SP Trabzon Akçaabat FK ) for the duration of the contract from summer 2014 .
