history
Foundation & beginnings
The association was founded by Cemal Kılıç and his friends under the name Eyüp İdman Yuvası (other sources report by Eyüp İdman Yurdu ) in 1917 on a Ferman of the penultimate Ottoman Sultan Mehmed V. It was the first sports club in the district to have several departments at the same time, including boxing , volleyball and basketball . Shortly after the association was founded which took Ottoman Empire at the broken World War part. Game operations were suspended until 1919. After the importance of the Istanbul sports clubs increased due to the Turkish Liberation War , the club was re-established on January 5, 1919 and supported the Turkish forces underground. In 1934, the club became champions in a second division held regionally in Istanbul and thus rose to the İstanbul Futbol Ligi . There the club played at times with the three major Istanbul clubs Fenerbahçe , Beşiktaş and Galatasaray .
Modern times
After the founding of the Süper Lig, the club was forgotten for a long time and played in the regional amateur leagues. From the 1970s, the club took part in professional football again and played at times in the second highest Turkish league, today's TFF 1st Lig .
Eyüpspor took over the table lead for the second time on the 6th matchday of the 2014/15 season and held this position until the last matchday. Thus, the club confidently secured the autumn championship ahead of schedule and on the penultimate matchday with a 2-0 home win against 68 Yeni Aksarayspor early in the championship of Group 3 and thus the direct promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig.
