Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrum Spor Kulubü or Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrumspor or BB Bodrumspor for short is a Turkish football club from the western Turkish city of Bodrum in the Muğla Province and was founded here in 1931. The team plays their home games in Bodrum İlçe Stadyumu . The club colors are green and white. It is unknown whether the club is the same club that took part in the Turkish third division season 1995/96 as Bodrumspor or is a successor club to the historic Bodrumspor.

history

founding

The club was founded in 1931 under the patronage of Derviş Görgün, who was also active as a football player for the club at that time, as Bodrum Spor Kulubü or Bodrumspor for short . The club colors were then red and yellow, but were later changed to the current form as green and white. After the club was founded, the club played in the local amateur leagues for many years.

Entry into professional football

In the summer of 1995 the club achieved promotion to the Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi , which was then the third highest Turkish professional league, and thus the first participation in professional football. The third division season 1995/96 ended the club as bottom of the table and rose again after one season in the amateur league.

Change of name to BB Bodrumspor

After relegation from the 3rd Futbol Ligi in the summer of 1996, the club was quiet. Between 1996 and 2013, the city council of Bodrum took over or re-established the association. In order to underline the involvement of the city administration and also to make the reference to the old association clear, both institutions were involved in the new association name Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrumspor . Here is Bodrum Belediyesi for city administration Bodrum and Bodrumspor for the former sports club.

Promotion to the TFF 3rd Lig

After the entry of the city administration, the club managed to participate in the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig , the fifth highest Turkish league and the highest Turkish amateur class. Here the club played for the championship for a long time in the 2012/13 season, but finished it behind Kızılcabölükspor as runner-up and thus missed promotion to the TFF 3rd Lig . The following season the club always occupied a top position in the table, but had no chance in the championship. It was not until the 2014/15 season that the club reached the championship and thus promotion to the TFF 3rd Lig.

Promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig

In the 2016/17 season, the team finished the league as champions and was promoted to the TFF 2nd Lig .
