Sarayköy 1926 Futbol Kulübü (formerly Denizli Belediyespor and Denizli Büyükşehir Belediyespor ) is a Turkish sports club from the city of Denizli . The football club has been playing in the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig since relegation from the TFF 3rd Lig . The games will be played at Doğan Seyfi Atlı Stadı in the Bahçelievler district , which can seat around 2,000 spectators.

history

The club, founded in 1981, maintains good relationships with Denizlispor , which means that both clubs give each other players on favorable terms. In addition to the well-known football division , the club also operates other departments such as volleyball and wrestling .

First participation in professional football

In the 1994/95 season Denizli Belediyespor rose for the first time in the professional TFF 3rd Lig and rose again after one season in the amateur league. The club rose again in the 2001/02 season to the TFF 3rd Lig and in the 2007/08 season for the first time in the TFF 2nd Lig .

Modern times and name change

After the club had achieved promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig in the summer of 2012, relegation was missed in the second third division season after the promotion. After two years of membership in the TFF 2nd Lig, the club had to relegate back to the TFF 3rd Lig .

After the province of Denizli had received the status of Büyükşehir Belediyesi (German: "Big City Administration" ) in 2013 , the club changed its previous name from Denizli Belediyespor (German: Sports Club of the Denizli City Administration ) to Denizli Büyükşehir Belediyespor (German : Denizli Belediyespor ) for the 2013/14 season .: Sports club of the city administration Denizli ). After the name change, the club used the acronym Denizli BB or Denizli BBSK .

In the 2014/15 season they finished fourth in Group 2 in the table and were thus allowed to take part in the playoff promotion games (relegation) to the TFF 2nd Lig . In the first round or in the semi-finals they met third-placed Yeni Diyarbakırspor . The first leg in Denizli ended 0-0. In the second leg, Yeni Diyarbakırspor led 1-0 until the 94th minute when the chief referee Hüseyin Sabancı awarded Denizli Büyükşehir Belediyespor a penalty. After Rıdvan Aykan converted the penalty, several domestic spectators stormed the field and attacked referee Hüseyin Sabancı and the opposing players. The game had to be abandoned when the score was 1-1, which would have meant a progression for Denizli Büyükşehir Belediyespor. The disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Association rated the game according to its rules with a 0-3 defeat against Yeni Diyarbakırspor. In the final they met Sivas 4 Eylül Belediyespor , who defeated Gölcükspor in the semifinals . The game, which took place in Sakarya in Sakarya Ataturk Stadı , was lost 0: 1. The promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig was just missed.

In the 2016/17 season , the club missed the league of the TFF 3rd Lig and rose after 15 years in the amateur league . In connection with the relegation, a new board was elected, and the club was renamed in Sarayköy in 1926 Futbol Kulübü .
