Trabzon Akçaabat Futbol Kulübü is a Turkish football club from the northern Turkish district town of Akçaabat , which belongs to the Trabzon Province and was founded in 1980. The club colors are wine-red-white-blue and are intended to illustrate the connection to the parent club Trabzonspor . Until the summer of 2013 the club was still called Trabzon Kanuni FK , after which the name was changed to its current form. Whether Trabzon Akçaabat FK is the successor club of the former first division club Akçaabat Sebatspor has not yet been clearly confirmed. After the name change, however, the club moved to the district town of Akçaabat.

history

Club coat of arms during the time as Trabzon Yalıspor (1980-2012)

founding

The association was founded in 1980 under the name Yalıspor or as Trabzon Yalıspor in Yalı , a district of Trabzon . The club colors were blue and white.

Entry into professional football

After the club had been active in the amateur leagues for seven years after it was founded, in the summer of 1997 it was promoted to the third highest division, the league known at the time as the 3rd Lig . In the first third division season, the 1987/88 season , the club finished third in the table. The following seasons one consolidated its position within the league and occupied mostly middle table places. In the 1996/97 season, relegation failed, so that after ten years of membership in the third division, they were relegated to the regional amateur league.

Return to professional football

After relegation to the regional amateur league in the summer of 1997, the club was unable to get back into a professional league for a long time. It was not until the summer of 2009 that they qualified for the playoff games of the regional amateur league in which the last climbers in the lowest Turkish amateur league in the TFF 3rd Lig were determined. In the playoffs, the club reached the final. In the final they defeated Çarşambaspor 1-0 and took part in Turkish professional football again after twelve years of abstinence. After occupying middle places in the league in the first two seasons, they played for the championship for a long time in the 2011/12 season . At the end of the season they qualified for the playoffs of the league by reaching 4th place in the table. In the semifinals of these playoffs in which the last three promoted teams were played they lost to Belediye Bingölspor with 0: 2 and so missed promotion.

Takeover and name change to Trabzon Kanuni FK

In the summer of 2012, several people close to the most famous association in the Trabzon province , Trabzonspor , were elected to the association's board. The elected people included former and current legends of this club, such as Hami Mandıralı and Tolga Zengin . A little later, the highly indebted association was financially restructured or bought up through personal donations from the new members. For the summer, the club name was changed to Trabzon Kanuni Futbol Kulübü , Trabzon Kanuni FK for short . Kanuni is said to refer to an epithet of the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman I , who was born in Trabzon and spent his entire youth in the city and is thus one of the city's most famous sons. The club colors were also changed to wine red-white-blue. Although the newly created club was not confirmed after 1461 Trabzon , another second club was subordinate to Trabzonspor.

Relegation to the amateur league

After the start of the second half of the 2014/15 season, Trabzon Akçaabat FK withdrew from the league and was relegated. All remaining players were rated with a 3-0 defeat. In addition, the club received a 3-point deduction from the Turkish Football Association. Due to a name sponsorship agreement with the construction company Sebat Proje Mühendislik Müşavirlik Tic. Ltd. Şti. the club will be called Sebat Proje Trabzon Akçaabat Futbol Kulübü (abbreviated to Sebat Proje Trabzon Akçaabat FK or SP Trabzon Akçaabat FK ) for the duration of the contract from summer 2014 .
