Trabzon is a province of Turkey on the Black Sea coast . It is also the capital of the province.

The province has 807,903 inhabitants (as of 2019) on an area of ​​4,685 km². It borders the provinces of Rize , Bayburt , Gümüşhane and Giresun .

İlçe

Trabzon has been a major city (Büyükşehir belediyesi) since 2012. After an administrative reform in 2014, the area of ​​the big city is identical to that of the province, in each of the İlçe (subordinate state administrative districts) there is a municipality with the same name, which covers its entire area and which is assigned to the city municipality. All other communities and all village communities ( Köy ) in the İlçes were dissolved and their area was added to the respective central community of İlçe. Since then, the governor of the province (Vali) has been a pure civil servant, the responsibilities of the previous provincial assembly ( İl meclisi ), which met under his chairmanship, have been transferred to the metropolitan commune .
