Tonya is a city and a district in the Trabzon province of Turkey .
The district is located in the west of the province. It borders Şalpazarı to the west, Gümüşhane province to the south, Maçka and Düzköy to the east and Vakfıkebir and Beşikdüzü to the north . The county seat is about 40 kilometers west of Trabzon .
