Gümüşhane is a Turkish province in northeastern Anatolia .

The inland province borders Giresun Province to the west, Erzincan Province to the south , Bayburt Province to the east and Trabzon Province to the north . It ranks 77th (out of 81 provinces) on the population list. Its capital is Gümüşhane of the same name .

Surname

The name Gümüşhane translated means silver house . The city of Gümüşhane had rich silver and bronze mines in historical times, which delivered to Trabzon. The ancient Greek name for the city was Θήρα ( Thera ).
