history

After King Frederick II of Prussia's edict of land reclamation, many new settlements were founded in East Frisia in order to secure space and livelihoods for the growing population.

During the Dutch occupation in 1810, the settlement "Tüssen Bargen" (Zwischenbergen) was founded between the Vossbarg colony and the Windbarg in Neudorf. Popularly it was also called "the Dutch colony". In the long term, the high German name Zwischenbergen prevailed.

The initially predominantly dairy farming activity has now declined to a few remaining farms. Some craft businesses have settled here.

The municipality of Zwischenbergen was (at least partially) incorporated into the municipality of Wiesmoor on July 1, 1972.
