Wilhelmsfehn II is a district of Wiesmoor in the Aurich district in East Frisia .

history

The place emerged from 1878. In that year, channels as Norderwieke and Süderwieke extending into the East Frisian Central High Moor were extended in an easterly direction. The fen colony was named after Kaiser Wilhelm I.

In contrast to Wilhelmsfehn I , the development of the place came to a standstill. Both canals end in the moor today and were not, as originally planned, connected to the Nordgeorgsfehnkanal . The reason for this is seen to be changed economic framework conditions, especially the decline of the hitherto intensely operated fen shipping. In 1931 the place, which remained an estate district under local law , received its own school. In 1951 it was added to the greater community of Wiesmoor.
