The Statistics Institute of Turkey ( Turkish Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu , abbreviated TÜİK , international TURKSTAT ) is the national central statistical office in Turkey , based in Ankara .
It collects and analyzes statistical information on the economy, demographics, society and environment of Turkey. The processed information is published daily in 26 statistics . In particular, it now works closely with Eurostat , for example in the implementation of the EU-compatible NUTS system ( NUTS: TR ).
In 1926, TÜİK was founded as Merkezi İstatistik Dairesi . In 2005 it was renamed Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu and is now (as of April 2020) headed by Yinal Yağan. The statistics institute is affiliated with the Ministry of Finance.
