Sarıyer is a district in the Turkish province of Istanbul and a district on the European side of Istanbul on the Bosporus and the Black Sea . The district of Sarıyer has 337,681 inhabitants (as of 2014).

Sarıyer signed a cooperation agreement with the central Hessian city of Weilburg in summer 2009 and has been twinning with Aachen since January 2013 .

In Sarıyer is the historic district Therapia (formerly Phamakias ) where many Bosporus - German lived from the first generation. Here in 1909 the Armenian Mıgırdiç Tokatlıyan opened the second of his famous Tokatlıyan hotels , which are considered the favorite hotel of the Turkish state founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk .
