Ataşehir is the only municipality and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Istanbul as well as a district on the Asian side and an outskirts or suburb of the city ​​of Istanbul . It has 425,094 inhabitants (as of 2019).

history

In March 2008, the Grand National Assembly of the Central State of the Republic of Turkey decided to establish a new district within the metropolitan municipality of Istanbul from the districts of the Istanbul districts of Kadıköy , Üsküdar , Ümraniye , Maltepe and Kartal , thus it became a new district of the metropolitan municipality .

In the 2000s, Ataşehir developed into a satellite city . In the new development areas of the district, many modern residential complexes were built, in which around 80,000 people live in 18,000 high-rise apartments. Most of the residents belong to the middle class with higher incomes. In Ataşehir, the per capita income is well above the Istanbul average. Many well-known companies are based in Ataşehir and Ataşehir has developed into a business and trade center on the Asian side of Istanbul in recent years.

The main street of the satellite city is Ataşehir Bulvarı . In the boulevard there are many public facilities of Ataşehir. The Ataşehir Bulvarı includes some primary schools such as the future- oriented Bilfen Ataşehir İlkokulu , a high school ( Ataşehir Lisesi ), a cinema, a Migros supermarket, a post office, many real estate agencies and various service providers and shops.
