Beylikdüzü is a district in the Turkish province of İstanbul and a district on the European side of İstanbul . Beylikdüzü was established as a district in 2008 and has 262,473 inhabitants (as of 2014).

Geographical location

Beylikdüzü borders the Sea of ​​Marmara to the south, Esenyurt district to the north, Avcılar district to the east, and Büyükçekmece district to the west .

history

It is believed that Beylikdüzü was first settled as a farming village by Greeks from Byzantium in the 2nd century AD . For the residents of Constantinople, the place represented a special attraction, which retained its popularity even after the conquest of Constantinople in 1453. In the late Ottoman period, the place was called the "garden", which after the establishment of the Turkish Republic until 2003 was called "Kavaklı", which indicates the large number of poplars . The current name is "Plains of the Bey ".

After the earthquake in Gölcük in 1999 , many citizens from the districts of Istanbul moved to Beylikdüzü. In the course of the expansion of the Metrobus between Avcılar and Beylikdüzü, Beylikdüzü was also affected by the refugee crisis. The popularity of Beylikdüzü has risen sharply in recent years and has become a center for residential and commercial investment.

Localities

Beylikdüzü is divided into ten localities (Turkish: mahalleler): Adnan Kahveci, Barış, Büyükşehir, Cumhuriyet, Dereağzı, Gürpınar, Kavaklı, Marmara, Sahil and Yakuplu.
