Gaziosmanpaşa is the capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of İstanbul and a district on the European side of İstanbul . Gaziosmanpaşa has 498,120 inhabitants (as of 2014).
Population development
A part of Gaziosmanpaşa has been established as Gecekondu since around 1970 , and many of the residents were Kurds who immigrated from eastern and south- eastern Anatolia and who illegally built their homes. The part of the district that was built on with Gecekondu had only been supplied with water and electricity since the late 1980s. Due to the enormous population growth, two new districts, Arnavutköy and Sultangazi , emerged from Gaziosmanpaşa in 2008 .
