The Spor Toto Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi 2005/06 was the fifth season of the fourth-highest Turkish division in professional men's football. It began on September 11, 2005 with the 1st day of the game and ended on April 30, 2006 with the 30th and final day of the game.

Competition mode

In the 2005/06 season, which was TFF 3. Lig as in the previous season played as a four-track league. The total number of teams was kept at 64. These 64 teams played in four groups with 16 teams each for promotion to the 2nd league or against relegation to the amateur league. All of the first placed went straight to the second league , while the teams in the last two places in the table of all groups were relegated to the regional amateur league.

Since the third highest division was fundamentally changed at the beginning of the season and was to be reduced from 51 teams to 50 in the summer of 2006, nine teams were to be promoted instead of the ten third division relegated from the TFF 3rd Lig. For this purpose, the number of promoters in the TFF 3rd Lig was increased to nine. In addition to the first placed in all groups, the second placed now also rose directly. In addition to the eight direct promoters, another team rose. These indirect promoters were determined in a playoff among the four third-placed.

Composition of participants

Beginning of the season were the remaining from the previous season 50 teams, the six relegated from the TFF 2. Lig Göztepe Izmir , Çorluspor , Amasyaspor , Gümüshanespor , Erzincanspor , Karamanspor the eight newcomers Değirmenderespor , İlkadım Belediyespor , Artvin Hopaspor , Afyonkarahisarspor , Nilüfer Belediyespor , Konya Şekerspor , Orhangazispor , Küçükçekmecespor have been added. The newcomers had been accepted as champions from the then regional amateur leagues and were allowed to take part in the TFF 3rd Lig.

Season course

League phase

Erzincanspor ( Group 1 ), Etimesgut Şekerspor ( Group 2 ), Keçiörengücü ( Group 3 ), Gebzespor ( Group 4 ) achieved the championship of the 3rd Lig in their groups and thus the direct promotion to the 2nd Lig . In addition, Gaskispor , Arsinspor , Fethiyespor and Zeytinburnuspor rose in second place .

At the end of the season, Bitlis Özgüzelderespor , Nevşehirspor ( Group 1 ), AB Kızılcahamam Belediyespor , Çubukspor ( Group 2 ), Konya Şekerspor , Akseki Aroma Gençlikspor ( Group 3 ) and Eski Spor , Mecidiyeköy SK ( Group 4 ) were relegated.

Playoff phase

By reaching 3rd place in the table, Batman Belediyespor , Tokatspor , Denizli Belediyespor and Gaziosmanpaşaspor qualified for participation in the playoffs. In the playoff phase, these four teams were to determine the last promoted team in two stages, with the playoffs taking place in Ankara as a neutral location for all teams . Tokatspor met Batman Belediyespor and Denizli Belediyespor played Gaziosmanpaşaspor in the semi-finals by lottery.

All playoff games were played between May 6th and May 9th 2005 at Ankara Ostim Stadium . Tokatspor prevailed in the semifinals with 4-2 on penalties against Batman Belediyespor, while in the other semifinal encounter Denizli Belediyespor reached the play-off final with a 2-1 over Gaziosmanpaşaspor. In the final, Tokatspor prevailed 3-1 against Denizli Belediyespor and was the last to be promoted to the TFF 2nd Lig .

Special occurrences

  • At the start of the season, the third division relegated Hatay Köyhizmetleri SK changed his club name to Antalyaspor .
