history
founding
Zeytinburnuspor was founded in 1953 in the then Istanbul suburb of Zeytinburnu through the efforts of the notables Kemal Alev, Şinasi Çevik and Ali Altan Erinsel as an unregistered sports club and had several departments with football , volleyball , athletics and wrestling at the same time. As a suburb of Istanbul, Zeytinburnu had a lot of unused land that was used as a sports or soccer field for the local population to exercise.
As a non-registered association, a small office opposite the local railway station was used as a temporary club room, the Kirazlı Aile Çay bahçesi (a local tea house). In 1957, Zeytinburnu became a district of Istanbul, which changed the cityscape, so they wanted to manage the association more professionally. So Zeytinburnuspor merged with Mithatpaşaspor Kulübü to Zeytinburnu Spor Kulübü, or Zeytinbunurspor for short, and became a registered sports club. İlhami Dernekbaşı was appointed as the first president .
Entry into professional football
After Turkish professional football had been reduced from three to just two professional leagues in the summer of 1980, the third highest professional football league, the 3rd Lig , now known as TFF 2nd Lig , was reintroduced in 1984 on the directive of the then President . In addition, it was announced that after certain requirements and conditions have been met, you can apply for participation in the league. In order to promote urban development, several city notables, above all the then mayor Muzaffer Çavuşoğlu, tried to meet the requirements. For example, an arable land that belonged to the local Armenian Foundation and was donated by it was provisionally converted into a football stadium. Muzaffer Çavuşoğlu was appointed club president and Hasan Bostancı was appointed vice-president. After the conditions were met, the Turkish Football Association confirmed participation. For example, Zeytinburnuspor took part in the re-introduced 3rd league in the 1984/85 season and finished 8th in Group 2 at the end of the season.
