Kemal Yıldırım (born May 15, 1958 in Ordu ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. He is one of the longest-standing players in the Süper Lig . With 475 appearances he is in the list of soccer players with the most Süper Lig appearances in 5th place.

Player career

Yıldırım started his club career in the youth of Orduspor and rose here in 1976 in the squad of the professional team. He made his professional debut on October 2, 1976 in the league game against Beşiktaş Istanbul . At the end of this season he then played his second game. In the next season he made the leap into the starting eleven. With ten goals in 23 league games, he was the most successful goalscorer of his team and fourth on the scorers list. In the following season he formed together with Mahmut Kılıç and Arif Güney a successful Strumtrio and contributed to the fact that his team finished the season in 4th place in the table and thus reached the best first division placement in the club's history.

Due to the successful two previous seasons, several larger clubs became aware of Yıldırım. Yıldırım decided to move to Galatasaray Istanbul . At Galatasaray, Yıldırım came to regular appearances, but overall fell short of expectations. After Yıldırım had participated in the pre-season TSYD Istanbul Cup in the summer of 1981, he moved to the league rivals Zonguldakspor in the summer transfer period of 1981 .

After a season for Zonguldakspor, he moved again within the 1st Lig . This time for the southern Turkish representative Adana Demirspor and played for this club continuously for the next two game periods. In the summer he left the club for the capital club MKE Ankaragücü . Here he established himself straight away and formed a successful storm with Halil İbrahim Eren and Bülent İzgiş . With his club he repeated in the 1984/85 season with the 4th place in the table, the best first division placement in the club's history. In addition, the 5th place in the table was occupied once and the 6th place in the table twice.

In the summer of 1987 he moved to the newly promoted Sakaryaspor within the 1st Lig . In the first season of that season, Yıldırım's team surprisingly became Turkish Cup winners . After this success, Yıldırım played another season for Sakaryaspor and moved to the capital city club Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the summer of 1989 . For this club he played for the next two seasons. Especially in the 1990/91 season he experienced the highest scoring first division season of his career with 15 goals this season. Despite this successful season of his career, he left Gençlerbirliği in the summer of 1991 and moved to Istanbul's second division club Zeytinburnuspor . Here he played for one and a half seasons and was then loaned to Istanbul first division club Bakırköyspor in October 1992 . For this club he played until the end of the season. After the club missed relegation and Zeytinburnuspor in the meantime secured promotion to the 1st Lig, Yıldırım returned to this club. The next two years he played with this club in the 1st Turkish division. But after the club missed relegation in the summer of 1995, Yıldırım was loaned to third division Gebzespor over the next season .

In the summer of 1996 he ended his playing career.

Coaching career

Yıldırım started his coaching career by working as an assistant coach at Altay Izmir in the summer of 1998 . In February 1999 he then worked for Bursaspor for three months .

From December 1999 he started working as an assistant coach at Adanaspor and from summer 2000 assisted the German head coach Joachim Löw . After this was dismissed, Yıldırım coached the team until the end of the season as an interim head coach.

In 2003 he worked again at Adanaspor as assistant trainer. In 2007 he was head coach of the amateur club Antalya Yıldırımspor and a second time in 2009.
