Stages
Bursa Ataturk Stadı
When Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , the founder of Turkey, visited Bursa in 1930, he had a stadium built with a capacity of 400 seats. Because they were happy about the first stadium in Bursa, the stadium was called “Bursa Ataturk Stadı”. In 1950 the playing field and grandstand were renewed. Today it seats 25,456 spectators. In addition to the Ataturk Stadium, Bursa also has the Merinos Stadium with a smaller capacity of 4,500 seats. Amateur clubs play on the hippodrome and on the velodrome grounds. The construction of the Merinos Stadium is reminiscent of the old Wembley Stadium and is therefore also called the Bursa Wembley .
Timsah Arena
As the Bursa Ataturk Stadı was neither comfortable nor sufficient for top division football, a new stadium was built. The Timsah Arena ( German crocodile arena ) was the first stadium in the world that has the shape of a team mascot (crocodile). The construction work was finished at the end of 2015; The stadium was opened on December 21, 2015 by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Fans
Bursaspor is supported by one of the largest fan groups in Turkey. For a long time, the members of this group were known as the most dangerous hooligans in the country, but this has changed a lot in recent years. The best known fan friendship in Turkey is between the fan groups Teksas from Bursaspor and Gecekondu from MKE Ankaragücü .
