Ömer Erdoğan (born May 3, 1977 in Kassel ) is a former German - Turkish soccer player and coach.
Player career
societies
Ömer Erdoğan started his career at Hessen Kassel . In 1997 he moved to the second division club FC St. Pauli , where he just missed promotion to the Bundesliga . After only one season, Ömer left St. Pauli and went to Turkey.
There he played for Erzurumspor and Diyarbakırspor . The traditional club Galatasaray Istanbul signed Ömer in 2003, there he did not get beyond the reserve role and left the club. He then played for Malatyaspor for two years . From 2006, Ömer Erdoğan played for Bursaspor . With this team he was captain of Turkish champions in the 2009/10 season.
He ended his career in Bursaspor in 2013. His farewell game was against Eskişehirspor on matchday 33 .
National team
For the first time in his career, Ömer Erdoğan was nominated for the first two qualifying matches of the European Football Championship in 2012 for the Turkish national team . He made his debut on September 3, 2010 in the qualifying game against the Kazakh national soccer team in the Kazakh capital Astana .
Coaching career
After his career ended in 2013, he was offered an assistant coaching position by Bursaspor, with which Erdoğan should assist the head coach Hikmet Karaman . He declined this offer.
At the end of June 2013, he announced that he would be his old trainer Ertuğrul Sağlam , with whom he was Turkish champion at Bursaspor, assisting his new employer Eskişehirspor as an assistant trainer. He also trains the club's reserve team, Eskişehirspor A2.
He has been the coach of Fatih Karagümrük SK since the 2019/2020 season . The debut game took place on January 19, 2020 against Bursaspor and was lost 1-2.
